I went to the very cute Usurp gallery to have a not so cute experience. Really interesting interactive sound piece Oorwonde by Belgium based Laura Maes. The audience participate by mounting the surgeons table and are strapped down. With finger buttons I controlled the vibrations and resulting sounds on the table and this through my body, even in my tongue as I bite onto a balloon! Interesting conception of listening through other body parts.

Fantastic talks again at thishappened, particularly enjoyed hearing about the inspiration and mission behind ‘This is my jam.’

You don’t know me comes from an interesting observation of one’s inability to hear their own voice as others do. The programme asks the user to record their voice and match it to how they feel their voice sounds in their head.

I like the fact that we know it is the same sound but due to the waves travelling through the skull this disparity of perceptions will always be there. Great to compare and contrast these areas.

Bone marrow awareness in a plaster packet…Genius

tIt takes advantage of a bad situation and hopefully prompts people to sign up for the bone marrow register with their blood sample…a great cause.
